Built by physical therapists, for physical therapists
PAI emerged from a simple observation: when physical therapists started using general AI chatbots in 2023, we saw both enormous potential and significant problems. These tools could answer questions quickly, but they frequently provided generic advice, missed clinical nuances, and sometimes suggested approaches that didn't align with current evidence or professional standards.
As the team behind Physiopedia and Physiopedia Plus, we'd spent years building the world's largest physical therapy knowledge base with more than 5,000 expert-reviewed articles created by clinicians for clinicians. We realised we had something unique: the foundation for an AI assistant that could actually understand physical therapy.

Our Vision
We built PAI to support physical therapists, not replace them.
PAI is designed to enhance your professional knowledge, not automate it. Whether you're a physical therapist managing a complex case, an educator preparing teaching materials, or a student developing your clinical expertise, PAI provides relevant, evidence-informed guidance drawn from trusted physical therapy sources.
We believe in professional autonomy. PAI is a tool that respects your judgment and helps you develop your own expertise. It's there when you need a second perspective, a quick reference, or help thinking through a professional challenge.

Learning you can trust
Because good education comes before easy answers.
Unlike general AI tools, PAI is grounded exclusively in Physiopedia's peer-reviewed physical therapy content. It won't point you toward generic health information or stray outside physical therapy's professional knowledge base, everything it teaches is evidence-informed, professionally relevant, and drawn from a source physical therapists already trust.

100% private
Your data stays private.
We don't share your conversations with third parties, and we don't use your queries to train AI models. When you discuss professional questions or learning scenarios with PAI, that information remains confidential and protected.

Our journey
From Physiopedia Plus to standalone service
We launched PAI in June 2024 as part of Physiopedia Plus, our online continuing education platform. The response from the physical therapy community exceeded our expectations. PAI quickly became the most-used feature, with physical therapists embracing it as a go-to learning resource.
Now we're making PAI available as a separate service. Whether you want access to our full education platform through Physiopedia Plus, or simply want a dedicated AI learning companion built specifically around physical therapy knowledge, you can choose the option that works best for you.
