PAI is a professional development/educational tool for qualified physical therapy professionals and students, built on Physiopedia’s evidence-based knowledge base. It is not a medical device and does not provide clinical diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or advice about individual patients. All information provided requires your independent professional judgement before any application to practice.

Introduction

1.1 About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Physiopedia AI Assistant ("PAI" or "the Service"). By accessing or using PAI, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully.

1.2 About Us

PAI is operated by Physiopedia International SL, registered in Andorra under company number 933846H with VAT number L-718176-R. Our registered office is at CTRA. Del Prats Sobrians 003 14, Edifici Prats Sobrians Bloc A Escala A, Arinsal, AD400 La Massana.

1.3 Acceptance

By creating an account or using PAI, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

The Service

2.1 What PAI Provides

PAI is an AI-powered educational assistant specifically designed for physiotherapists, physical therapists and other rehabilitation professionals. The Service provides:

Evidence-based information and professional learning support
Professional writing assistance (SOAP notes, referral letters, discharge reports)
Patient education material writing support
Physiotherapy knowledge and condition awareness resources
Exercise knowledge and professional development support

2.2 Evidence Base

PAI is trained exclusively on Physiopedia's curated database of over 5,000 evidence-based articles, regularly reviewed and updated by rehabilitation professionals.

2.3 Service Availability

We aim to provide continuous service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, updates or unforeseen technical issues.

Account Access and Subscriptions

3.1 Individual Subscriptions

PAI is provided to individual physiotherapists, physical therapists and rehabilitation professionals through personal subscriptions. Access is granted upon successful registration and payment.

3.2 Institutional Users

Institutional users accessing PAI via a group or organisational subscription are bound by these Terms and by the relevant institutional agreement.

3.3 User Credentials

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.

3.4 Subscription Terms

Subscription pricing, payment terms and cancellation policies are set out in your institutional agreement or subscription documentation.

Using PAI

4.1 Your Input and PAI's Output

When you use PAI:

Input: You provide questions, case details or instructions to PAI
Output: PAI generates responses using artificial intelligence
Customer Content: Input and Output together constitute "Customer Content"

4.2 How Your Content is Processed

We process and store Customer Content in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your conversations with PAI are stored to maintain conversation history and improve service quality.

4.3 Patient Information and Privacy

Critical: You must NOT include any personally identifiable patient information in your Input, including:

Patient names, dates of birth, addresses
Any information that could identify a specific individual

Always anonymise and generalise case details before inputting them into PAI. PAI is an educational tool and is not designed or approved as a platform for storing or processing identifiable patient health information.

4.4 Your Responsibilities When Using PAI

You agree that:

Your use of PAI complies with all applicable laws and professional regulations
You will not use PAI to generate content that violates any laws or third-party rights
You will clearly attribute any Output you share publicly as AI-generated content from PAI
You will not misrepresent Output as your own original work or as human-generated content

Important Limitations and Clinical Responsibility

5.1 Educational Decision Support Only

PAI is designed to support professional learning and development, not to replace professional clinical judgment. PAI provides evidence-based information and educational support drawn from Physiopedia's knowledge base.

You are solely and fully responsible for all clinical decisions made in your professional practice. PAI does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment recommendations. Any application of information obtained through PAI to clinical practice remains entirely your professional responsibility.

5.2 Verification Required

You acknowledge that:

AI systems may occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete information
You must evaluate all Output for accuracy and appropriateness before applying it
You remain solely responsible for all clinical decisions, patient care and any application of PAI content to practice

5.3 No Medical Liability

We do not accept responsibility for any clinical decisions, diagnosis, treatment or patient outcomes resulting from your use of or reliance on PAI's content.

5.4 Potential AI Limitations

You understand that:

Large language models may occasionally generate incorrect information
Training data may contain biases or inaccuracies
Output should be verified against current evidence and clinical guidelines

5.5 Professional Licensure and Regulatory Compliance

Access to PAI does not grant, imply or substitute for any professional license, certification or registration to practice physical therapy / physiotherapy.

You acknowledge that:

The legality of your practice is determined solely by the laws, regulations and licensing requirements of your country, state or jurisdiction
You are responsible for ensuring you hold all necessary licenses, certifications and registrations required to practice in your jurisdiction
You must comply with all professional standards, codes of conduct and regulatory requirements applicable to your practice
Use of PAI does not satisfy, replace or substitute for any continuing education, professional development or competency requirements

Third-Party AI Models

6.1 Use of Third-Party Services

PAI utilises third-party artificial intelligence technology and services as part of its technical infrastructure. We may update or change these technologies from time to time to improve service quality and performance.

6.2 Our Compliance Obligations

We maintain agreements with our third-party technology providers and comply with their applicable terms and conditions. We are responsible for ensuring our use of third-party services meets all necessary requirements and standards.

Intellectual Property

7.1 PAI Platform Rights

All rights in the PAI platform, including software, design, content and trademarks, belong to Physiopedia International SL or our licensors.

7.2 Physiopedia Content Rights

The Physiopedia articles and content used to train PAI remain subject to the licenses and terms applicable to Physiopedia's content.

7.3 Your Rights to Output

You may use Output generated by PAI for your professional practice and learning, subject to:

Proper attribution when sharing publicly
Compliance with these Terms and Conditions
Professional and regulatory obligations

7.4 Feedback and Suggestions

By using PAI, you may provide feedback or suggestions. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use this feedback for improving the Service.

Acceptable Use

8.1 Prohibited Uses

You must not:

Use PAI for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or extract source code
Use automated systems to access PAI without authorisation
Share your login credentials or account access with any other person. Each user must maintain their own individual account
Use PAI in ways that could damage, disable or overburden our systems
Input content that is offensive, discriminatory or inappropriate

8.2 Professional Standards

You must use PAI in accordance with your professional code of conduct and applicable healthcare regulations.

Data Protection and Privacy

9.1 Privacy Policy

Our collection, use and protection of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions.

9.2 Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures to protect your data, including encryption, access controls and security assessments. We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of your information.

9.3 Data Location

Your data is processed and stored on Google Cloud infrastructure located in the Netherlands. We have selected this location to ensure your data remains within the European Union and benefits from European data protection standards, including GDPR compliance.

Limitation of Liability

10.1 Service Provided "As Is"

PAI is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties regarding accuracy, reliability or fitness for any particular purpose.

10.2 Limitation of Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:

Any indirect, consequential or incidental losses
Loss of profits, revenue, data or business opportunities
Clinical decisions or patient outcomes resulting from use of PAI
Any losses exceeding the fees paid for the Service in the preceding 12 months

10.3 Your Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages or expenses arising from:

Your use of PAI
Your breach of these Terms and Conditions
Your clinical decisions or patient care
Your violation of any laws or third-party rights

Term and Termination

11.1 Duration

These Terms continue for as long as you access or use PAI.

11.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

You breach these Terms and Conditions
Your subscription expires or is terminated
Required by law or regulatory authority
Necessary to protect our systems or other users

11.3 Cancellation by You

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Your cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain access to PAI until that date.

11.4 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

Your right to access PAI ceases immediately
Provisions regarding intellectual property, liability and indemnification survive termination

General Provisions

12.1 Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions. We will notify you of material changes through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12.2 Changes to the Service

We may modify, update or discontinue features of PAI at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes where practical.

12.3 Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy and any institutional subscription agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and us.

12.4 Severability

If any provision is found unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and other provisions remain in full effect.

12.5 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.

12.6 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations to any successor entity.

12.7 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Andorra. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Andorran courts.
